Hesham Moustafa Ali

Hesham Moustafa Ali (Ph.D., Colorado State University; M.S., Cairo University) is director and founder of the Communication Center of the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. He serves as editor of a monthly newsletter and quarterly magazine for the ministry and has participated in major communication campaigns to raise public awareness of water scarcity problems in the country. Dr. Ali’s expertise in irrigation systems has been utilized by the Egyptian government to train irrigation engineers and to conduct research on the knowledge and practices of Egyptian farmers toward water resources. He is the author of several papers for international journals and conferences, including the 1998 USICID Conference on Shared Rivers in Utah and the Nile 2002 Conference, held in Addis Ababa in 2000.
